We’re creating The Magenta to showcase the beauty of human creativity and let it shine through the increasingly muddy layers of the internet.
We’re registering as a non-profit to stay focused on creativity, not clicks or revenue. Right now we’re entirely self-funded and volunteer-run; in time we hope to bring in donations, memberships, and grants.
We’re looking for writers and artists to contribute the very first pieces we publish.
It might be a recipe that blew you away, an art installation you’re proud of, an idea you think could compoundingly advance humanity, a new way of looking at something that we currently register on autopilot. It might be something you made yesterday or today. An essay, a series of photos, an mp3 — whatever form it takes, if you’re proud of it, we want to see it.
You’ll get prominent credit for your work and you keep the copyright, we’d just have permission to publish and promote it.
We won’t be able to publish everything submitted. Our small team will review each piece and make the final call on what fits. This isn’t a reflection on the quality of what didn’t make it, just a reality of a first issue with limited space.
We aim to open up grants, donations, and membership support sometime in 2026. When that funding exists, paying contributors will be our first priority, and early contributors will get first consideration for paid work. We don’t want to promise funding that isn’t there yet, so for now this is a voluntary invitation.
